What is slides_maker?
Turn papers, code, and docs into presentation-ready, natively editable PPTX in Codex / Claude Code. Native charts and equations, speaker notes, click-build animations, and an independent critic review before delivery.
Overview of slides_maker
What it is
slides_maker is a free and open-source tool that turns papers, code, documents, or topics into native, editable PowerPoint (.pptx) presentations. It uses a team of specialized agents to read the source material, plan the story, design slides, build the .pptx file, and have an independent critic review the deck before delivery. It is designed for use in Codex or Claude Code.
Key features
- Reads the source material and does not invent numbers or figures; every statistic traces back to the provided content.
- Produces a real PowerPoint file where every text box, shape, native chart, and equation is click-to-edit; nothing is flattened to an image.
- Includes an independent critic that reviews the deck for layout, contrast, and accuracy issues and sends fixes back; the user can adjust the review strictness after seeing the first render.
- Composes slides for various canvas ratios: 16:9, 4:3, square 1:1, 3:4 portrait (e.g., RedNote/Instagram carousels), 9:16 story covers, and A4 print one-pagers, each with its own safe zones and layout logic.
- Offers a gallery of twelve template directions (in English and Chinese) and fifteen complete visual languages that can be applied to content.
Use cases
- Research talks and lab meetings - Thesis defense and proposal reviews - Product launches and keynotes - Business updates and quarterly reviews - Startup pitches and fundraising decks - Classroom lessons and courseware - Social media carousels (3:4 portrait)
- Market reports and newsletters - Corporate training and workshops - Biography and brand stories
