What is career-ops?

Open-source AI job search: scan job portals, evaluate listings into a structured A-H report with a global 1-5 score, tailor your CV, track applications — runs locally in your AI coding CLI (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity…)

Overview of career-ops

What it is

career-ops is an open-source AI job search agent that runs locally in your AI coding CLI (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity…). It scans job portals, evaluates listings into a structured A-H report with a global 1-5 score, tailors your CV, and tracks applications — all on your machine. The project is MIT licensed, open source, and uses free and local models included. According to its creator, it evaluated 740 listings, led to 68 applications, 12 interviews, and 1 offer from its first user (the creator).

Key features

  • A-H Evaluation: role summary, CV match (with per-requirement weight labels), level strategy, comp research, personalization, interview prep (STAR+R), Block G posting-legitimacy check, and Work-Auth signal.
  • Human-in-the-Loop: AI evaluates and recommends, you decide and act; the system never submits an application.
  • ATS PDF Generation: ATS-readable CVs tailored to each job, in Space Grotesk + DM Sans design.
  • Cover Letter Generator: research-backed cover letters with keyword mirroring, interactive angle prompts, draft-in-chat approval gate, and A4 PDF output.
  • Portal Scanner: 100+ pre-configured companies (Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Retool, n8n…) and custom web-search queries across Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Wellfound.
  • Pattern Analysis: rejection patterns, per-ATS-channel advance rates, lifetime funnel stats, repost detection for ghost jobs.

Use cases

A job seeker can paste a job URL and get an immediate evaluation of whether it is still open and whether it fits their profile. The agent drafts tailored CV, cover letter, and application answers — the user reviews and submits. It can also identify the hiring manager, draft LinkedIn messages, and track all applications locally. For those receiving rejections, pattern analysis helps identify gaps and suggest what to learn.
