What is FinceptTerminal?

FinceptTerminal is a modern finance application offering advanced market analytics, investment research, and economic data tools, designed for interactive exploration and data-driven decision-making in a user-friendly environment.

Overview of FinceptTerminal

What it is

FinceptTerminal is a native C++20 desktop terminal for financial research, with a Qt6 UI and embedded Python 3.11 analytics, delivered as a single binary without Node.js or a browser runtime. The public repository is the free AGPL-3.0 edition, designed for learning, personal use, and academic research, and ships one release per month. An Enterprise edition with proprietary licensing, real-time data, live broker trading, and priority support is available separately.

Key features

  • Analytics: Includes DCF, portfolio optimization, VaR/Sharpe, derivatives pricing, fixed income, and an 18-module QuantLib suite.
  • AI: Provides 37 trader/investor, economic, and geopolitics agents; requires the user to bring their own LLM key (supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Groq, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, Ollama).
  • Data: Connects to over 100 sources including FRED, IMF, World Bank, DBnomics, AkShare, Polygon, Kraken, Yahoo Finance, and government APIs.
  • Trading: Supports crypto and equity feeds, a paper-trading engine, and 16 broker integrations.
  • Automation: Features a visual node editor, MCP tools, and an AI Quant Lab for machine learning, factor discovery, and reinforcement learning.
  • Global intelligence: Includes maritime tracking, geopolitical analysis, and relationship mapping.

Use cases

Financial research and analysis, portfolio management, quantitative research, market data exploration, and personal or academic learning. The open-source edition is suited for students, hobbyists, and academics. Firms, family offices, and professional research desks are directed to the Enterprise edition.

Getting started

Download the latest release (v4.5.0) for your platform from the release page. For Linux/macOS, build from source: git clone … && ./setup.sh. On Windows, run the installer and launch FinceptTerminal.exe. See the repository README for full instructions.

License and pricing

The open-source edition is licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later. It is free for personal use, learning, and academic research. AGPL-3.0 is strong copyleft; distributing a modified build or running it as a service requires publishing changes under the same license. The Enterprise edition has proprietary licensing at $10/$20/$40 per user per month (launch pricing). A free plan for Quantcept (AI research desk) offers 350 credits with no card required.
