What is IncarnaMind?
IncarnaMind is a free, open-source desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux where you write with AI and ask questions about your own documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more). It can check every sentence and figure in a draft against those documents, whoever wrote it, and every answer cites the exact page it comes from.
Overview of IncarnaMind
What it is
IncarnaMind is a free, open-source desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux. It allows users to write with AI and ask questions about their own documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and more). It can check every sentence and figure in a draft against those documents, and every answer cites the exact page it comes from.
Key features
- Check your draft before sending: select sentences and check against documents; each claim is marked supported, unsupported, or contradicted with a page link.
- Write and ask in one place: a Mind is a notebook for one topic; the assistant answers questions about the Mind or files, with citations checked.
- Check every answer: answers cite where each claim came from and carry a quote, which is checked against that place (green check or amber mark).
- Take notes in a meeting: live transcript runs beside your Mind; after the call, save it as a Document and cite what was said.
- Use existing files: link folders (including Zotero) and read PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CSV, Markdown, plain text without moving or changing them.
- Find and add sources: search OpenAlex, arXiv, PubMed; save web pages; import references from Zotero or CSL JSON, BibTeX, RIS.
- Write with AI you can check: tell the assistant to change the Mind (e.g., shorten summary) and it edits; changes are grey until you edit, and Review changes shows what changed.
Use cases
- Academic writing: verify claims against source documents and generate citations.
- Document review: check a PDF or report for unsupported statements.
- Meeting notes: record and transcribe meetings, then cite specific statements.
- Research: collect and compare information from multiple files or online sources.
