What is Codync?

The open-source Grok Bot alternative: message Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini and 40+ AI agents as bots on your own computer, from iPhone, Mac, Windows, Linux or terminal. Free. Also a Muse and Dots alternative. Built in Rust.

Overview of Codync

What it is

Codync is an open-source application that turns coding agents on your computer into persistent bots you can message from an iPhone, Mac, Windows PC, Linux desktop, or terminal. It is described as an alternative to Grok Bot, Muse, and Dots. The software is built in Rust and licensed under Apache 2.0. It is free with no paid tier.

Key features

  • Free and open source with no subscription or paid tier, Apache 2.0 licensed.
  • Supports bringing any coding agent: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Copilot, OpenCode, Pi, Grok Build, and approximately 40 more from the ACP registry.
  • Run multiple bots side by side, each with its own agent, project folder, and approvals. Group chats allow several bots and you to interact; @name picks who replies.
  • Built in Rust; codync-host is a small, fast Rust binary for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
  • One app per kind of device: native SwiftUI on iPhone, a desktop app (Electron) for Mac, Windows, and Linux, and a terminal UI for SSH.
  • Reach your computer from anywhere for free via a hosted Cloudflare relay with end-to-end encryption. Direct connection on same Wi-Fi or Tailscale.
  • Remote screen and voice calls from iPhone to the computer.

Use cases

  • Message coding agents as bots from your phone while away from the computer.
  • Delegate tasks to bots and receive notifications when a bot finishes or needs approval.
  • Use group chats to have multiple bots work together in a team-like channel.
  • Control your computer remotely from an iPhone using the remote screen feature.
  • Talk to a bot hands-free from the iPhone with voice calls.
