Overview of lemo-opuscar
What it is
Lemo-Opuscar is a collection of 51 film styles, each accompanied by a short film made entirely in code. The styles are tuned for Claude Opus 5.5; other models may not reproduce them well. Every film was directed, drawn, scored and mixed by an AI agent writing code: picture via canvas and WebGL pages rendered frame by frame, music from free sample libraries, and voice via text-to-speech narration. No video generation or stock footage is used. The project is maintained by Lemomo (@lemomo_ai) and hosted on GitHub.
Key features
- 51 film styles, each with a reusable style prompt and a short film made entirely in code
- Styles include hand-drawn & painting, East Asian traditions, evidence films (e.g., LiDAR survey, data physicalization), and more
- Each style has a
STYLE.mdguide describing its look and sound - The agent reads three guides:
DIRECTOR.md(story, sound, rhythm, camera),TECHNIQUE.md(frame-by-frame rendering, voice, music, mixing), and the style guide - Users can customize a style by changing parameters and giving it a new name; the agent writes the new style to a separate folder and creates a 15–30 second test film
- Default output is 1920×1080 at 24 fps; other sizes on request
- Installation via Claude plugin or git clone; requires Node 20+, ffmpeg, and Python 3.11+ (or uv)
Use cases
- Creating short films in a specific visual style (e.g., watercolor, Ukiyo-e, Chinese ink wash) for personal stories, family history, or creative projects
- Making evidence-based films that use real measured data (e.g., LiDAR survey of a forest, data physicalization of wind and solar capacity)
- Producing explainer videos (e.g., how GPS works) in a whiteboard or other style
- Experimenting with AI-directed filmmaking and style customization
