What is lotti?
A private logbook with a staff of personal AI assistants. Agents read what you record and propose what to do next — you approve the changes. End-to-end encrypted sync between your own devices — servers only ever see ciphertext. Local AI optional.
Overview of lotti
What it is
Lotti is a private logbook with a staff of personal AI assistants. It is a distributed system of record for your memories — kept on your devices and nowhere else. Everything you capture (voice notes, screenshots, conversations, photos, journal entries) is stored locally in a SQLite database with attachments on the filesystem. Devices sync with end-to-end encryption through a zero-trust relay (Matrix homeserver). Agents read what you record and propose what to do next; you approve the changes. Local AI is optional. The project is written in Flutter and Dart, supports macOS, Linux, Windows, iOS, and Android, and has been in development since 2016.
Key features
- Memories live only on your devices: no cloud, no telemetry, no analytics. Each device holds the full record in a local SQLite database.
- End-to-end encrypted sync through a zero-trust relay: devices communicate via a Matrix homeserver using Megolm encryption; only verified devices receive keys. The relay never sees plaintext.
- Memories stay unaltered with clear provenance: agent-authored changes require your approval before they enter the record. A small class of pre-approved writes (e.g., transcription, AI summaries as new entries) is defined in ADR 0102.
- Inference that keeps nothing: agents use models via providers you configure, ideally with zero-data-retention policies. Speech recognition runs fully offline with Whisper or Voxtral.
- Conflict resolution via vector clocks: devices that were offline can rejoin without losing writes; concurrent edits surface as conflicts for you to resolve.
- Supports tasks, relationships, goals, events, projects, and a daily journal, most looked after by a personal AI agent.
Use cases
Personal journaling with AI assistance for suggestions on next actions. Task and project management where agents propose changes and you approve. Relationship tracking and goal setting. Capturing and organizing memories (voice notes, screenshots, conversations, photos) with end-to-end encrypted sync across devices. Privacy-focused personal knowledge management where no third party holds readable data.
