What is agentcookie?
Your agent runs on a Mac that isn't your daily driver. agentcookie keeps its sessions in sync with the Mac you actually browse on, continuously, encrypted over Tailscale, so OpenClaw, Hermes, or any other agent runtime wakes up authenticated. macOS, peer-to-peer, no cloud middleman.
Overview of agentcookie
What it is
agentcookie is a macOS-to-Linux cookie synchronization tool. It continuously replicates Chrome cookies from a Mac (source) to a Linux machine (sink) over a Tailscale tailnet. The transfer is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and uses peer-to-peer communication with no cloud intermediary. The sink injects cookies directly into Chrome's in-memory store via the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP), so agents running on the Linux box (e.g., browser-use, Puppeteer, Playwright) see authenticated sessions without manual login. The project is written in Go and released under the MIT license.
Key features
- Continuous, unattended one-way sync of Chrome cookies from Mac to Linux over Tailscale.
- Encryption using AES-256-GCM over the Tailscale WireGuard channel.
- Pairing-derived per-peer keys for secure communication.
- Cookie policy filtering on both source and sink (allowlist/blocklist).
- Live CDP injection on the sink – no Chrome SQLite rewrite, no Keychain on Linux.
- Supports macOS arm64 and Linux amd64/arm64 binaries.
Use cases
- Running AI agents (e.g., OpenClaw, Hermes, browser-use) on a Linux VM or homelab server that need to act as the user on cookie-authenticated websites.
- Keeping a remote agent runtime's browser session in sync with the user's daily browsing Mac without manual cookie export/import.
- Automating tasks on sites like GitHub, Instacart, or Google Workspace (non-DBSC sessions) from a headless Linux box.
Getting started
Install the binary on both Mac and Linux. Prerequisites: Tailscale running on both machines, Chrome installed on both, and Chrome on Linux started with --remote-debugging-port=9223. bash # On Mac: download and install curl -LO https://github.com/mvanhorn/agentcookie/releases/download/v1.0.0/agentcookie_1.0.0_darwin_arm64.tar.gz tar -xzf agentcookie_1.0.0_darwin_arm64.tar.gz sudo mv agentcookie /usr/local/bin/ # On Linux: download and install curl -LO https://github.com/mvanhorn/agentcookie/releases/download/v1.0.0/agentcookie_1.0.0_linux_amd64.tar.gz tar -xzf agentcookie_1.0.0_linux_amd64.tar.gz sudo mv agentcookie /usr/local/bin/ # Mac source setup: run wizard agentcookie wizard install --as source --peer # Linux sink setup: write config files manually (see README) then start agentcookie sink For detailed configuration and systemd service setup, see the repository README.
