What is dev3000?
Captures your web app's complete development timeline - server logs, browser events, console messages, network requests, and automatic screenshots - in a unified, timestamped feed for AI debugging.
Overview of dev3000
What it is
d3k (dev3000) is an agent-first local web debugging runtime. It starts a development server, opens a monitored browser with a project-stable Chrome profile, and provides a unified timeline of server logs, browser errors, network activity, interactions, and screenshots. The primary interface is the d3k skill for coding agents; a standalone TUI is also available but not required for the agent workflow. Every app gets a stable Portless URL by default, so browser state and callbacks do not move when the underlying development port changes.
Key features
- Captures development-server output, browser console messages and exceptions, network requests and responses, user interactions, navigation and error screenshots, and Chrome DevTools Protocol events.
- Provides a persistent Chrome profile per project under
~/.d3k//chrome-profile/that preserves login state, cookies, and local storage across debugging sessions. - Offers a Portless URL feature that gives each app a stable, port-free HTTPS URL (e.g.,
https://my-app.localhost) so browser state remains unchanged when the dev port changes. - Includes agent commands such as
d3k status --json,d3k errors --context,d3k logs, andd3k agent-browserfor driving the managed browser. - Supports auto-detection of common web projects including Next.js, Vite, React, Vue, Svelte, Astro, Django, Flask, FastAPI, and Rails.
- Stores artifacts per project: active session, consolidated log, screenshots, Chrome profile, and crash log.
Use cases
- Debugging a web application by letting a coding agent inspect a unified timeline of server and browser events.
- Reproducing bugs with a managed browser that retains login state and cookies across sessions.
- Testing OAuth and other auth-sensitive flows without breaking sign-in due to separate browser identities.
- Running automated debugging or testing in CI with headless Chrome (
--headless).
Getting started
Node.js 24 or newer is required. Install the runtime globally:bashbun install -g dev3000or with npm:bashnpm install -g dev3000Install the d3k skill for coding agents:bashbunx skills add vercel-labs/dev3000 --skill d3k --agent '*' -g -yAfter installation, run d3k portless setup for one-time administrator authorization to generate/trust the local HTTPS CA and install a root-owned startup service on port 443. Then start the runtime with d3k -t in agent-safe mode.
