Overview of yoji

What it is

Yoji is an AI desktop companion that runs locally on your computer. It can operate your operating system directly — managing files, running scripts, searching the web, and calling external APIs. It features a persistent emotion engine, a Live2D avatar, voice wake-up (macOS only), and extensibility through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). All data stays on your machine; no data is uploaded to any cloud service.

Key features

• Computer control: create, edit, search files; execute shell commands and Python scripts; perform web searches; sensitive operations require your approval via a pop-up.
• MCP extensibility: connect any MCP-compatible service (e.g., 12306, recipe, fetch) to expand capabilities. AI can even install new MCP tools on its own after your consent.
• Voice wake-up (macOS only): say “小优” to start a conversation; uses offline SFSpeechRecognizer; no internet required.
• Emotion system: 8 simulated neurotransmitters (dopamine, cortisol, serotonin, etc.) that affect reply tone and style; interface background changes with mood.
• Live2D avatar: a silver-haired cat-eared girl with emotional expressions, mouth movement during speech, time-based outfit changes, and interactive reactions (head pat, cheek poke, etc.).
• Three-layer memory: user profile (AGENTS.md), conversation snapshots (SQLite), and semantic memory (sqlite-vec vector database).
• Sub-agent system: create custom agents in the Workshop; supports synchronous (blocking) and asynchronous (background) execution; each agent can have its own MCP tool set.
• Smart document processing: read PDF and Word (.docx) files directly; unsupported formats are automatically blocked.
• WeChat integration: connect to your personal WeChat account via iLink ClawBot protocol; messages are isolated between desktop and phone.
• Portable: export the entire companion (memory, emotion, config) as a .ecompanion file; import on another machine to restore.
