Overview of codeflow
What it is
CodeFlow is a browser-based tool that turns any GitHub repository or local codebase into an interactive architecture map. It requires no installation, no accounts, and runs entirely in the user's browser. The tool processes code locally and does not send data to any server.
Key features
- Interactive Dependency Graph: Visualize file connections; click nodes to highlight dependencies; drag, zoom, and explore.
- Blast Radius Analysis: Select a file to see how many files would be affected by changes.
- Code Ownership: View top contributors for any file based on git history.
- Security Scanner: Automatically detects hardcoded secrets, SQL injection, dangerous eval(), and debug statements.
- Pattern Detection: Identifies singleton, factory, observer/event patterns, React custom hooks, and anti-patterns like God Objects.
- Health Score: Grades codebase A–F based on dead code, circular dependencies, coupling, and security issues.
- Local File Analysis: Analyze code from your computer without uploading; supports drag-and-drop, folder scanning, and custom exclude patterns.
Use cases
- Understanding a new codebase quickly.
- Assessing the impact of proposed changes before making them.
- Conducting code reviews with ownership and security context.
- Scanning for security vulnerabilities in private or public repositories.
- Analyzing local files offline without internet access.
