What is cli-printing-press?
Every API has a secret identity. This finds it, absorbs every feature from every competing tool, then builds the GOAT CLI — designed for AI agents first, with SQLite sync, offline search, and compound insight commands.
Overview of cli-printing-press
What it is
CLI Printing Press is a tool that reads official API documentation, studies popular community CLI and MCP servers, and sniffs the web for unpublished APIs (e.g., Google Flights, Domino's). It applies power-user patterns such as local SQLite, compound commands, and agent-native flags. The press generates a token-efficient Go CLI, a Claude Code skill, and an MCP server for any API or website. Three example CLIs are available: ESPN (sniffed, no official API), flight-goat (Kayak nonstop search plus sniffed Google Flights), and linear-pp-cli (50ms against a local SQLite mirror). The full catalog is browsable at printingpress.dev.
Key features
- Reads official API docs and studies community CLI/MCP servers - Sniffs web traffic for APIs without published documentation - Generates a Go CLI, Claude Code skill, and MCP server per target - Uses local SQLite for fast queries and compound commands - Supports REST, GraphQL, or browser-sniffed traffic; no OpenAPI spec required - Produces research documents, verification proofs, and a Quality Score per run - Offers a Codex mode that reduces Opus token usage by 60%
Use cases
- Creating a CLI for any API, including those without official documentation - Building agent-native tools that minimize token spend and latency - Generating compound queries that the original API cannot answer (e.g., blocked issues with stuck blockers)
- Stitching multiple data sources into a single query (e.g., Kayak + Google Flights)
- Rapidly prototyping and publishing CLIs for personal or team use
