What is aislop?

Catch and fix the code-quality issues AI coding agents leave behind - dead code, unsafe casts, swallowed errors, duplication, security risks, and more. 50+ deterministic rules across 10 language targets, with CLI, CI, and GitHub Actions. No LLM at runtime. MIT.

Overview of aislop

What it is

aislop is a deterministic code-quality tool that catches issues left behind by AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and OpenCode. It detects patterns like narrative comments above self-explanatory code, swallowed exceptions, hidden fallbacks, as any casts, hallucinated imports, duplicated helpers, dead code, todo stubs, and oversized functions. It applies 50+ rules across 10 language targets: TypeScript, JavaScript, Expo / React Native, Python, Go, Rust, Ruby, PHP, C#, and C/C++. Each change is scored 0–100 in sub-second time. The tool is deterministic — no LLM is used at runtime — and is MIT-licensed with a free CLI.

Key features

  • 50+ deterministic rules across 10 language targets - Scores every change 0–100, sub-second, with no LLM in the runtime path - CLI, CI mode, and GitHub Actions support - Auto-fix mechanical issues (unused imports, dead code, formatters)
  • Per-rule severity override and inline suppression via comments - Supports multiple package managers: npm, Yarn, Bun, Homebrew, PyPI - Outputs JSON, SARIF 2.1.0 (GitHub code scanning), and a public badge - Configurable via .aislop/config.yml with extend support and JSON schema validation

Use cases

  • Catch code-quality issues introduced by AI coding agents before they land - Integrate into CI pipelines to gate changes based on score - Auto-fix mechanical issues like unused imports and dead code - Hand off diagnostics to coding agents for repair using aislop agent
  • Monitor code quality over time with the score badge
